- Surviving ammonite - shelled cephalopod more closely related to squids and octopi than modern shelled nautilus 
- Shell was approximately 3.5 feet long at its widest point, shorter tentacles were 2 feet long on average and longer tentacles were 5 feet long 
- Carnivorous, most likely feeds on crustaceans and smaller fish 
- Relatively docile, likely not dangerous unless threatened or provoked 
- Small hole beneath tentacles indicates likely ability to move via water propulsion (like squids) 
- No other known freshwater cephalopods
